You are absolutly right... and the ford can't get it to the ground. I work with a guy that has an '05 ford lariat. Now that thing is supposed to be pushing 300 hp... and it may very well be.... I just don't know where it's hiding it at. That thing has 0 punch off the line. MY 10 year old 5.9 liter ate his lunch to the point that he was embarrased about it...


those things are junk... The vortec 5.3L is much more of a challenge

 

you mean the f-250 lariats with the turbo diesel?? oh it has power.. it just needs a programmer to unleash it.. as for the lightnings.. my friend blew his engine the 2nd day he had it... but its a full size truck and he was beating srt-4 neons with it.. (low 14 second cars).. rebuilt the motor in it.. that truck eats 2006 vettes like nothing.. 638 hp at the rear wheels with that stock 5.4 block.. ran a 12.2 at the track.. if i had a chance i would seriously get a ford lightning.. but my next project will be BIG.. buying a 318 block.. tearing it down.. boreing it out and rebuilding the whole thing.. gonna be wicked quick for a big *** 1500 ram

 

kinda off the topic between ford v/s dodge, but i had a question about the 5.2 & the 5.9. my brother just got a 98 ram with a 5.2. i drove it around the block and the truck seems to have better throttle response & pick up compared to my 99 5.9. both trucks are stock, and mine has @ least 20k miles less on the clock. is that common? or am i losing power somewhere?

 

360's only have like 20 more hp then the 318's.. that probally has alittle bit of something to do with it

 

I have a 97 ram with a 5.2, I have a 98 silverado with a 5.0. The Dodge will out pull the chevy all day long, but the chevy is more comfortable to drive. Put them side by side on a track, the chevy will stomp the dodge, different gear ratios' tires, and torque curves. But again, the Dodge will outpull the chevy all day long.

 

chevy gas engines yeah.. i dont know what it is about them but they do put out alot of hp for their size.. (5.9 magnum=245... 5.7 vortech=325) but diesel engines is another story.. i know cummins will out pull duramax's anyday of the week

 

5.7=325 ???????? Newer motor i am guessing?? i thought the newer ones only had the 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0, but i could be wrong i guess.....my buddies 96' 5.7 puts out 255 ponies, and his would tromp my 5.9 in a race, also it seems more refined.....but then again 4x4 pickups arent made for raceing, they are meant for towing and hauling.

 

yeah new motor... its still close though between dodge and chevy.. 5.7 vortech is around 325.. 5.7 hemi is around 345

 

aaahhhhhhhhhh ic ic sorry i went retarded there for a second......do u know what the output of their 6.0 is ??????? For some reason i wanna say its less than that of the new 5.7
