MPG
I have a 2001, 1500, 2 wheel drive regular cab, 8 foot bed, 3.55 gears, stock tires, 60,000 miles and I get 13.3 on average as measured by reading the odometer and dividing by gallons put in tank on fillup. The truck used to belong to my father and he claims he got around 17 when it was new. I think my low end torque is not as good as it should be so something may be wrong. If I figure out that something is wrong and my mileage improves after fixing I will post it here.
Why the hell are 318's such gas hogs? My last trip I got 13 ALL highway. Thats a bit rediculas since my parents 454ci surburban gets 15 highway completely stock...
I'm gonna replace my O2 and see if that helps...if it doesn't the truck may have to go! I have our off roader for fun weekends and car for daily/highway.

Do you have codes or does the 02 sensor going/being out not generate em?
It appears that my 5.2 is getting less than 10. It's a 4x4 w/130k but com'on

I've already replace spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, pcv valve and catalytic converter.
I already ordered a hypertech programmer.
I also plan on getting a cat back exhaust, cold air intake, new o2 sensors, new fuel filter.
I will also check vacuum with a vacuum gauge while driving, fuel pressure while driving.
I will also replace the intake plenum gasket.
After doing all that if I don't get at least 17 mpg I will sell it and get a Chevy.
My stinking 95 Chevy pickup with a 305 V8 with 160 horsepower and 180,000 miles had more low end torque on the highway (with 3.08 gears!) and got 17 mpg.
I've driven 1998 and 2001 Chevy's and they will blow this Dodge away as far as acceleration is concerned and still get significantly better mileage.

My truck must be weird or something. I average about 18 - 19 mpg on the highway with my 5.2. I have had trips where I have broken into the 20's on a few occasions. I usually go by the overhead computer, but I have also figured it out on my own several times to verify the computer's results. Every time, the computer has been dead on. Don't really know why I get such good mileage on the highway.

Were these averages achieved after all your modifications, including the programmer, exhaust, gears, etc?

ort your truck has 4.10's maybe that could be the culprit of good gas mileage? look at it in how the engine doesnt have to work hard to get it moving and at high speeds maintaining that speed is much easier? it could be true
