New member and first time posting here, is there any potential hazards that go along with putting larger rims and tires on the truck. I thought I heard someone say that it puts a lot more stress on the truck ie. axles with an increase in tire size? I have the same rims off of a 2002 and they do fit on my 97, just wondering if anybody has heard of any risks. The dealership says ABSOLUTLY NOT, to putting bigger rims and tires, but everybody does it....

as long as the backspacing is the same or just about the same.. an inch either way is ok.. any more is too much..

dont listen to the dealer.. they are the ones that wanted to replace my engine when my transmision went out... morons

So you actually have these wheels on your truck now? Is it a 2 wheeler or a 4? If it's a 2, didn't the dust cover on the front hubs push through the center of the rim and pop the center cap out?

I went to one of the autoparts web sites. A 97 and 99 use the same hub. So I don't kow why mine stick out through the rim. While I was there I looked up a hub for a an 03 .... way different. A hub swap is not an option.

I actually had them on my truck. I took them off for now because of the tires are worn out on the 20" rims, so I decided to run my other tires until time to replace them. But yes they do fit on my truck. They rub just a tiny bit when i turn the wheel ALL the way left or right. My truck is a stock 97 4x4 SLT with the 5.9

Ahh, that explains it. I'm a 99 extended cab 4x2 SLT with the 5.2. The 4x4 hub doesn't have the protruding center.

Yes that explains it. Mine does not have the center hub that sticks out.

Near Freehold. They're the factory 20" polished aluminum wheels with Fuzion ZRi P275/55R20 tires. Tires and rims are in great shape. I paid $1000 for them so that's all I'd like to get back. ... but you can offer me more, I won't be offended. )
