Default 37K first plug change..

My 2001 needs plugs, etc.. I've read some horror stories about breaking off plugs. Do you think shooting some break free down the plug holes a couple times about a week before I do the job would help?

Are the heads on my truck aluminum? Will PB BLASTER have any bad effects on threads. I don't see any comments on the stuff for my purpose. I appreciate the advice. I just don't wnt to screw some thing up.

bro, idk when my plugs were last changed but i have around 94000 and they were not a pain to take off and its a 98 so yours might be even easier, also depends where u reside and the corrosion from weather too, i live in michigan(probably the corrosion capital of america)..

I live in N.W. Indiana, so lotta corrosion around here also. I gotta 2 WD so easier to get to plugs, I guess, height wise. The six is basically a 318 with 2 front cyls cut off. The deal is though the engine is mounted just as far back as a V8, so I don't know if I can get my fat *** up over the fender to get back there. Plus I don't know how the hell to get that drivers side plug behind and under the power steering booster.

Put some anti-seize on the new ones so you don't have to worry about this again

do you still have

wait you only have 37thousand on your truck? damn thats nice!

anyway do you still have the metal sheilding around the plug boots? if so yank them out!!! all they do is hold dirt in there witch can drop into the cylinder.... just grab them with a pair of pliers and they yank out pretty easy!... then give it a good shot of compressed air in there so you blow the collected dirt out!1!! very important that this is done...

i just had to change dads plugs on his explorer... original plugs with 141 THOUSAND miles,... THOSE were hard...

after 37 on your motor they should come out easy...just take yer time

holy $hit.. someone has less miles on their truck than ME!!!!

i just crept over the 38200 mile mark over the weekend to go snowboarding. yeah i was thinking of doing those plugs too but kinda gotta deal with the giant vibrator i'm sitting on first. hopefully it's just an unbalanced tire, but with the noise the transmission was making when i first started it up yesterday who the hell knows what it is.
