WOW!! Now thats a awesome dent, I think it gives your truck some character. No need to buff it out.

From the way your axle shaft looks in the second pic, I would have it looked at. It looks to have alot ground off it. If it does it would be out of balance. Think of it like a drive shaft, enough damage will throw it out of balance. It also could have bent the lobes and that's not good. JMO.

yea its a big *** dent... oh well, my drivers side is the show-off side anyway i guess the passenger side is the hardcore side now.

picking up a new hub w/ bearings for $130 from napa tomorrow morning.
forgot to have them order the axle seal, hopefully they have it in stock.

my dad gave me a bit of advice.."why the hell do you want to change the axle? who cares if its scratched, you beat the **** out of that truck in the mud anyway" true enough, if it breaks, i'll change it then.

as for installing the axle seal...do i just need to open the differential up? i don't need to remove the diff from the truck to get to it or anything right? and i should be able to access it without removing too many things...looks like just maybe some steering components.
if anyone's changed this seal, do you have any advice or pointers on this little project.
here's some better pics of the damage.
notice the very milky gear lube...looks like i had water in there too?

also got a ticket for operating a motor vehicle on prive property, because my friend is a freakin dumbass. we had to walk from the trail to the wawa where my friend was parked, and as we were approaching the car, a cop pulls up and asks us what we were up to. he only saw us walking to the car, and my truck was too far in the woods to see. so he had us on nothing.
BUT, my douchebag friend immediately says, "oh, we were out wheeling on a trail over there, and my friend's truck is broke out there"

so i end up with a ticket and have to go to court, my dad got called at 3 AM from lacey township cops saying i needed to move my truck right away, and i had to have it flatbedded home. [:@][:@]
