alright im in the market for some new rims and i found a few rims i like but i was thinking about dropping down to a 15' rim cuz there is more tire variety out there and cheeper tires...... anyway what kind of backspacing and all do i need to have a 15' rim fit.. my truck is a 94 dodge ram 5.2 318... single cab 8ft bed

 

Same backspacing as any other rim. Backspacing isn't the issue with the 15s...it's the issue of them hitting on the caliper and sometimes the tie rod end

 

alright cuz i tried a 15' rim i had laying around and it spun but you herd it go ting after like a full rotation so i guess its hitting something....is there a 15' rim out there that doesnt hit the tie rod end and teh brake caliper... like do i need a 4' ofset or something....

 

ON the half tons a 15" rim isnt an issue unless you keep the stock backspacing (4.5" i think).

3.5" is the best. that way you can put a 12.5 tire on without rubbing the control arms.

the only time you have problems is when you have steel rims with a 2000. that year they went to a dual piston brake caliper and the steel rims tend to rub on the calipers. Most people just take a grinder and take a littl material off.

a 15" rim on a 3/4 or 1 ton is idiotic. They dont meet the weight rating of the 16" rims or higher.

you should never hit the TREs unless the stock backspacing is keept, which looks gay to me anyway

 

yes its a 1/2 ton... so a 15' rim with 3.5' bak spacing woudl work... i tried a set of stock white wheels i found steal ones and put them on and it spun freely but you heard a loud ting when it made one full rotation..... and i couldnt figure out what was hitting... and i dont really want to take any material off my calipers or tie rod ends.... also i would like my rim to stick out maybe 2-3 inch's more than stock

 

btw is 15' rims a bad idea? or should i just spend the extra to get some new 16's.
