Default ride difference.......

just wondering what the ride difference would be in 3 inch coil spacers vs 3 inch lift coils? which would be rougher (harsher) and which would be 'softer' although i know neither will be exactly SOFT...... also are they any other pros or cons between the two?

springs tend to get harder to compress as they get compressed more. so with coil spacers, you would most likely end up with a rougher ride, as the spring would be compressed more, all the time. a longer spring should be softer, and give a better ride.

coil spacers dont compress the springs... it just moves them down 3 inches.. pretty much it'll give you the same ride that you have now.. 3 inch coils will probally be rougher.. since the spring is stretched out 3 inches it needs to be pretty stiff to hold the weight of the truck.. but if you ask me i think it was the rancho shocks that made my truck ride pretty rough

I would agree with the Rancho shocks making your truck stiffer. I have the RS5000. Soft as a tank..... I hear the 9000's, which are adjustable, are smoother..

the longer coils aren't stretched, they are actually longer. so they should give the same ride as the stock ones, depending on what you get.

i do agree i was a bit wrong on the spacers...obviously they wouldn't compress them three more inches, or you would get no lift...i was in a bit of a multiple sleeping pill daze before, sorry [&:]

edit: and yes, springs are just as easy, if not easier to install, than spacers, because you need to take your old springs out either way.
