Default will new style mirrors (2001ish) fits a '97 truck?

i need to replace my side mirrors on the ram i just bought (woohoo) because the pass side is FUBAR. its a 97 1500 4x4. my question is: will the 2nd gen towing mirrors, the ones that flip out, bolt up to my 97 with power mirrors? am i going to have any problems getting the mirror to move under its own power?

thanks for the help.

This has been asked a ton, and the general concensus is yes. Those mirrors in the 2nd pic are towing mirrors and I don't think they're factory. But the factory black plastic are 98-2001 (also 2002 2500's)

They are factory, but I'm not sure they came with the towing package. I think the flip-out ones were an add-on option.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that you needed the bases from another set of mirrors to make them work on the pre-98 Rams though. [>:]

what's with people around the west likeing to tow stuff huh? what's with that? trucks are for roasting ricers and roasting tires..

yeah did a 40 foot long one tire fire outside my apartment earlier today.. yeah it was fun.

82206157 is the part #

eBay is your best source

Here's a write-up about it: http://towrig.com/dodgemirrorupgrade.shtml

And if you already have towing mirrors on your truck, you can upgrade to the POWER and HEATED 3rd gen mirrors by following this guide: http://www.klenger.net/dodge/2nd-gen...g-mirrors.html
