Default 1999 RAM 2500 V10 - need mods

On my second Dodge (truck). Just purchased an immacualte 1999 RAM 2500 with v10. Does anyone know of anything mods that are really worth doing? And/or really improves the performance? I know exhaust/super charger/ things like that. I am talking about re-programming the ECM, or engine adjustments. Thnx GP

Fastman Throttle Body - www.thefastman.com

K&N FIPK Gen II - eBay is a good place to find those.

Headers - JBA or Gibson (or Mopar Performance if you can find them)

Mopar Performance PCM (which are discontinued and getting harder to find) or a Custom PCM Flash from http://www.bgchrysler.com/Service/Hi...b_g_flash.html are your ONLY options as far as PCM/ECM mods go. There is no true programmer for the V10.

Crower 1.7 Roller Rockers OR a mild camshaft (the one Mopar had was a great mod)

Replacing the muffler with a higher flowing one is also a good mod. Most V10 owners have gotten a good sound from Gibson mufflers.

The intake manifolds could also benefit greatly from some porting and polishing. They were cast VERY poorly. [:'(]

The VEC2 is another option, it looks pretty sweet and is just a matter of switching programmable smart cards. Probably take a bit of dyno time, but if you could get those Gen 1 results...

I emailed Sean Roe and he told me the VEC2 would work fine on my `99

True...it would probably work...just like the VEC1 works. Problem is the VEC2 is $995.00 [&:] You'd have to be heavily modded to need to tune that bad [>:] I wish they'd understand that a Ram owner doesn't tend to have money burning in piles around his/her house like a Viper owner. [&:] Too bad they can't drop the price closer to "normal" for those who aren't interested in paying for anything "Viper" related. [:'(]

Thnx for the all info.

Anyone ever tried the add-on that goes on either the temp senser or map sensor? Neighbor gave me one that he got from eBay. I think it's just a resistor that tricks the computer to make adjustments to compensate for these readings. I just have reservations adding in something that someone made up in their basement. I will check out these site mentioned in replies. Thnx GP

There are no "resistor" mods out there that work The one he probably gave you is an IAT sensor mod. Those don't tend to work.

An o2 sensor simulator is the only "resistor" item that is useful. [8D]

Thnx for all the info. I did install a K&N air filter. I also removed the cats, as I am pretty certain those were getting clogged. No the truck has a nasty hollow sound. I would opt to install new cat back system, but I will be using this to tow a fifth wheel and don't want to go deaf. So, I was hoping to keep the stock muffler set up. Any one encounter this issue? And, what do you recommend me to do with the old smog pump tubes that ran down to the cats? Thnx GP

I cut my air pump lines off at the frame by the engine bay. Then I removed the rest of the line from there back to the pump. I also gutted my pump so it spins free. I was looking at milling off the bracket (like the one on the cover of the Mopar street truck book) but I want to find an extra one to hack up before I try anything.

I'm not sure what you mean by nasty hollow sound [&:] I like the sound of my truck. I've had several people tell me it sounds like a diesel when it's idling. I don't think you'd go deaf if you installed a new cat-back. These motors aren't as loud as V8s. They're more like V6s when it comes to exhaust note. The stock muffler is also a big bottleneck. It flows horribly [:'(]
