my neighbor works for the dealer were i bought my first two trucks.nice place, order parts, dont pick them up they dont return them, they go in the dumpster. some parts come off wrecks that are fairly new and they still get for the full price.
I worked at a dealer for 7 years! Hope you don't want to make money! The more you know the less you make! I am currently ASE certified in 8 levels! Was a Master Tech for 4 years! I have the ring to prove it! You will get the jobs nobody can fix if you are good!
Its funny, because I was supposed to do simple inspections, but now im doing a little of everything, and everyone else is getting pissed off at me because Im doing there work

I have seen where the "top" guys get fed gravy while the "B" techs get the tough stuff. I have also seen the situation you describe. Because there is only one guy that can actuaully "repair" a vehicle he gets the jobs that take forever and don't pay well while all the other techs are rolling services in and out of the door.
As far as not making money... I would have to disagree somewhat. Good techs in this area do very well. The funny thing is that the more money they make.. the more they complain about how rough they have it... lol
