Default wierd gas mileage

well there are a hundred posts about peoples gas mileage goin down suddenly, and its usually the plenum or cat.......

but my gas mileage just suddenly went UP..... ive usually been getting 10.5 or so (occasionally 11) mpg around town........ i just filled up today and its 12.7 mpg!! i dont get it, i didnt change anything.... nothing replaced in the truck or anything, no different driving. if anything, i expected this tank to be a bit low because i hauld a few truckloads of mulch, but yea its up over 1.5 mpg......... im happy!!!

not that it really matters, but does anyone know what could have brought about this change?? no cooler weather or anything, its been over 90 the past week or so, so thats not it.

is it possible your fuel is different? I know out west we get a winter fuel which affects gas milage some.

Great to hear! I get the best fuel mileage of all... I haven't had to gass up my truck in WEEKS! (not that its been running in weeks, lol)

Have you taken any road trips, even a half an hour up the express way can make a big difference in mileage...

My brother has a 94 Ram 1500 4x4,360 auto that does weird sh*t ever since he bought it brand new.We go trilobyte hunting at a spot about 350 miles away from where we live a couple times a year and without fail after about 100 miles his CE lite comes on and then his gas mileage will go up from 14.5 average to 16.5 - 17. We checked the code it was setting the first couple times and it was saying a problem with the tc solonoid circuit. The tranny od locks up fine before and after the code is set,has done it since truck was new,had it in the shop at first and they never found anything wrong with it,and he still has the original tranny in it with about 170,000 miles on it! And he still gets great mileage out of that truck and I'm happy to get 11-12 lately! If only I could replicate that "problem" in mine

you have 285's on your truck right?? so your speed isnt accurate with those bigger tires.. so in turn your really traveling further then what your speed and odometer is showing.. when i put the hypertech on and set my tires to the right size.. i saw a 2 mpg gain.. now its up to around 13 lol.. but better then nothing.. but about your mileage im not sure.. it could be anything.. getting on it a little more then the week before.. reving the engine.. letting it sit longer at redlights.. not filling it up exactly how much it was the week before.. i mean 1 gallon is about 11-15 miles less.. everything can add up but just do what u've been doing and it should stay up there
