errrr new battery time
Well i was driving back home today in the rain, stoped at a stop sign, steped on the gas and my truck just died! WTF!!! sitting there cranking it over. batterys totally dead and didnt do crap. pushed her off to the side of the road. ( during all this its pouring out too) [:@] open up the hood and put my jumper pack on it. i wasnt getting like any voltage from the battery. let that sit for about 5 mins. then after trying to crank it about 20 times she finally came to life again and i held the gas down for another 5 mins trying to get a charge. now im completely soaked. im so pissed and i have no idea why this all of a sudden happend. you should have seen me driving it home though. kind funny. put it in neutral, roll to a stop one foot on the brake the other keeping the engine reved. ( it felt like it was going to stall every time i took my foot off the gas, lock the line lock. still reving the engine and shifting. wasnt very fun. i think it was all the battery but im going to check what the alternators putting out tomorrow. Im going to the store and getting a optima yellow top today. ok im done lol [sm=rant.gif]

RE: errrr new battery time
Tani, White Buffalo is right, it deffinatly sound like alt is dead. Your truch will still run if the alt is charging. It sounds like the capacitors are shot as it will still throw somewhat of a charge if you keep the reves up. Have both the alt and batt tested at the same time as the batt could be shot also ( some times the bat gets cooked when the alt fries). The Optima yellow top is a killer bat by the way, took out 4 950cca out of my Freightliner and replaced then with 3 750 cca yellow tops and the truck starts on the first roll everytime now, even in the winter. Put the yellow tops in 3 years ago and I usually go through a set of batts every year
