I'm thinking about lifting my truck. It's a 96 4X4 with the 5.2 with 33x12.50s on it already. I'd like to go to a 35 inch tire. I was going to do the leveling kit, but I pull a trailer a lot for my business. The back still sits up maybe 1/2" with the trailer on, but it will probably sag once I put the leveling kit on. I was thinking that I would put an add-a-leaf or air bag helpers on the back. I saw on Summit racing though, that they make coil springs that will raise up the front 3" and I could get some more leaf springs that would lift the back up 4.5". That would probably be perfect with the trailer and all. What do you guys think? I know I would have to get new shocks too, but it would still be cheaper than getting a lift kit.

You're gonna want to have at least a gear ratio of 4.10 with those 35" tires. Maybe even 4.56 depending on the weight of that trailer. Otherwise your mileage will take a big hit, along with your power.
As far as the lift, I have no comment on that part. I don't like lifted vehicles...especially for towing purposes. I'm sure someone else will give you some advice on that though.

if your going to tow alot. i would get a body lift. that way its not going to screw with your suspention and its also keeping the hitch low and the weight low. and if you towing i would regear it. you could always level out the front too if you wanted with a spacer.

If your looking to just go up 3", the Rancho 3" sport lift comes with a 3" spacer for the front and an add-a-leaf in the rear. I'm sure there are other kits that do the same. Personally I like the add-a-leaf. It helps with towing a trailer. The truck doesn't squat with the load. As mentioned before. Keep your gear ratio and RPM range in harmony. Expecially if pulling a trailer.

I agree with Tani, I have seen guys tow with their lifted trucks and the back sits so low because they did a suspension lift. Going with a body lift keeps your hitch at the same hight and will keep you trailer level, There is nothing worse then having to repair a trailer because it sits low and you trash the tail. But then what do I know I only pulled 53 footers!!

I didn't know Rancho made a kit like that...that is exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want an enormously lifted truck, just a little bit to put 2 inch bigger tires. The add-a-leaf would be great. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll keep looking. I really need to re-gear now to tell you the truth. How much is it to do this to both axles?
