at a loss guys?????
Check your TPS connection, mine was intermitently making and breaking occasionally, felt like the truck hit a brick wall for a split second then was fine, this would happen ever so often for no rhyme or reason. Wiggle the TPS connector around while it is idling,if it dies or surges you've found the problem, you may also want to check your cap or rotor,I've seen the rotors mangled on these trucks and they still run, also the ignition coil connection-seen the pins burn off on them before also.
well an update....i kept driving it and now it seems to do it more than it was.....but this time the truck died and came to a stop and i put it in park and tried to start it and it started right up then took off again and i looked at the rpms and the dropped all the way down before it died....if it was the tc wouldnt it slip and the rpm's climb up like it is slipping and i also heard a little backfire when i tried the gas to see if it was still running.....cannot figure this thing out....lol....driving me nuts!!!!!
Time to check the ignition system. I think we are possibly missing the big picture. How many miles are on the truck and when was the last time the cap, rotor, plugs and wires changed?
i dont know if they have ever been changed......got it with 50000 miles and it has 70000 on it now and i havent changed anything yet!!!!!!!i just want to make sure that it is not the tranny or tc or it is for sure but i may start with a tune-up first and see
ok i have changed the tps sensor on it just in case and that didnt work......now i just changed the automatic shutdown realy(cheap fix if that was it....lol) and it didnt work either....now i am going to check the temps in front of the cap and the temps behind the cap to see if that is it and then i will check the fuel pressure and go ahead and change the cap rotor plugs and wires to see if that is the problem.....surely it is one of them....lol.....any other opinion guys????? i am wondering if i should check the ground somwhere too?????
fuel pump is not it. there is obviously still fuel if the revs don't drop. if they do then fuel is not getting to the engine.
dumb question but did you check the air filter? if that's clogged then you're not going to go anywhere.
if it died completely but started up again.... ignition would be a starting place to look.
it should have a fuel pressure of 49psi at the rails
holy triangle... spark, fuel, air. gotta be one of them if the truck is dying..
