Default at a loss guys?????

ok i dont know what else to try on my truck.....first i will explain what is happeneing. When i am driving down the road at a speed of about 60 or 65 mph the truck doe s a sudden jerk(pretty good little jerk too) but i dont notice the rpm's going up or down when it does it and i have been looking at other post about the torque converter unlocking and it sounds like when that happens the rpm's are going up and it is not a jolt....mine is a definite jolt and it will do it only once in about a 15 mile stretch or not at all in the same stretch.....i replaced the tps anyway hoping that was it and it still did it....undid the positive cable for an hour when i replaced the tps and still did it.....cleaned the plugs on the side of the tranny and still did it.....now what i am really wanting to know is if this is the torque converter or is it the motor causing the jerk or jolt.....i have no check engine light.....but i did notice the other day when i pulled up into my buddies driveway and put on the brakes the abs light came on and the truck died....started it up and then it was fine.....dont know if that has anything to do with it or not.....man i hate to keep driving it and it is the torque converter and it ruins the tranny too....this little jolt or jerk is driving me nuts....lol.....so if any of you guys have any opinions, please give them....thanx

it just jults ones? does the motor make any strange sounds when it does this. sounds like it could be a spark or fuel problem to me. I would check the coil. maybe its goin out or has a loose connection when you hit a bump. thats the only time i could really think of it julting really hard. could be the trans but that just something else to consiter. im not really good with automatic so im not much help there.

no the motor dosent make any strange noises but your right it does seem like it might be electrical doing it ....like the coil or something....as far as a bump it does it on flat groung bump or not.....so i dont think any bumps have anything to do with it.....as far as the battery, i unhooked the positive but i dont know if it makes a difference if it is the negative or the positive.....so someone else may know!!!! and yeah it just jolts once in the 15 miles like right in the middle of the trip!!!!!

get a multimeter and find out.

it doesn't matter which terminal you disconnect. you are breaking the circuit either way. just be careful if you pull of the positive. there might be a residual charge that shocks ya if you let it hit the frame or something (nearly impossible to do, but there are bigger idiots out there).

as to your transmission thing... it might be that it is trying to kick out of overdrive. you might try driving at 60 and then turning off the overdrive. just another idea.

ok...how do i check it with the multimeter....what do i got to check? so you think the tranny is going out if it is trying to kick out of overdrive? or is something causing it to go out of overdrive?

well first off it might be kicking out of overdrive. i don't know if it is but if it was trying to it would definetly give you a jolt. but then again you probably would see a jump in revs or something like that.

you're not pulling any codes so the engine isn't misfiring.. even once should give a code.

with the multimeter i was going to say check to see if current was able to flow through the spark plug wires. i'd crawl in there and pull the cap off of the distributor and see if the insides are corroded (you should see rust, white stuff, or green stuff). but without any codes being fired or rev jumps i don't think that is it the more i think about it.

i think the first thing to do is take it out and drive it with and without the overdrive on. (for an extended time frame with each) but do it on the same day, same roads, same directions. so.. go to a friends house.. drive back.. go back again.

ok i tried it out of overdrive and it did it in town out of overdrive so i dont think it has anything to do with the overdrive....and i dont want to take it to the shop because if i cant diagnosis it through here then i can just wonder what they are going to say and i dont want to go through that......to me it seems like something with fuel or electric because i have no misses or slippage.....still at a loss guys....lol....by the way there is no climb in rpm's when it does it....there is a decline in rpm's cause it seems like it wants to die but then kicks back in again......help??????
