Should have got Gibsons…
I decided to go with Edelbrock headers with the ceramic coating, as opposed to Gibson because of the price difference. I have never had a problem with anything from Edelbrock. I have three Edelbrock intakes and 2 Edelbrock carbs. They came on Saturday and I installed them on Sunday afternoon only to find that the driver side had a terrible leak. I inspected the gaskets and retightened all of the bolts. Still the leak sounded the same. Discouraged I decided that I was going to get a set of FelPro gaskets and stack them to fix the leak that I didn't think should be there. Yesterday I removed the header, inspected the old gasket (that looked just fine), and reinstalled the new gaskets with the header. Still the same leak. I removed the down pipe and made sure that it was sealing fine, but still the same leak. Being frustrated I called Edelbock only to be waiting on hold with customer service. While on customer service I removed the header completely and upon inspection I found that where the primary tubes enter the collector they were not welded in the center of the 4 primaries. After being on hold for nearly two hours I hung up. I figured that I would give summit a call and see if they could do anything about it because I need my truck. I was on the phone less than 8 minutes and had a new set in the mail. Kudos to Summit for fixing Edelbrock’s problem. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with Edelbrock and their customer service. Summit told me that they would ship out the new set on Wednesday and that I would have them by Thursday. Then I could just ship whatever I had left back to them and they would take care of it with Edelbrock.
Here are some pictures of how not to make a header.

I don't think that you should be able to see a Maglite in the center of the primary tubes.

P.S. I might have to agree with shott8283 on this topic.

No Ripto. To put on headers you dont have to take out the engine. I've been looking in to putting a set on my truck and from what I've learned it's not that big of a deal. Just take off the stock exhaust manipolds and bolt on the headers right where the manipolds were. Then they just bolt the headers onto the exhaust pipes just like the manipolds. This is how you put on shorties. I don't know anything about long tube headers. Hope I helped!
you will have to remove the studs out of the heads... not a big deal. when you install the headers, you may need to re-stud the end bolt holes in the head where the headers bolt up. my R/T's went into water jackets and needed to be studded in order to hold the coolant
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
