is this normal?
Hey All,
First off this is my first post on the forum, So Hi. I am Rob I Have a 1998 dodge 2500 4x4 v10. Here is my question : When i accelerate with the A/C on the dash vents switch to the defroster vents, i am not sure if the A/C pumps stops while doing that but its kinda weird it changes vents....So... Is this normal? And if it is - is there a way around it? and if its not...what should i do?
Thanks...i've been learning a lot reading these posts.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Yes it is a vacuum leak. The easiest way to find it is to go to autozone and rent a hand held vacuum pump. The cheapest way to find it is to start tracing the lines back looking for a crack in the line.
On the passenger side of the engine right behind the throttle body there is a vacumm tee that is made of plastic. Many times it is there that the problems begin. Dealer part. Usually inexpensive.

Hey Sinister,
they are 35 12.50 BFG A/T ko's(eagle 16.5 x 10 wheels). Its a great tire. I really like the look of the Mud Terrains(and their offroad performance).. but the A/T's are so quiet and quite agressive aswell.

It could also be the heater control valve or switch. It can also happen when you just have the heat on. My did it when I accelerated or was under a load, it would automatically switch to defrost. There was a service bulliten about it for 94 through 97 Rams. My truck was an early 98 so it had 97 stuff as well. I appologize I can't remember the SB # but if you call the service department at your local Dodge garage they should be able to tell you.
