Default Throttle body spacer

I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a 360. I had a buddy of mine tell me that I could get an additional 20HP and 5 extra MPG if I installed a Throttle Body Spacer. Is this true? What are the other pros and cons of this spacer? How hard is it to install?

I'll chime in late: add a coffee can on your exhaust (+20HP, +2MPG) and a few stickers (+2HP each, +5HP if they look really cool!)
And if you add underbody lights, thats atleast +20HP and +2MPG. Lol.

Throttle body spacers work exceptionally well. their not too difficult to install but you can only get 1" spacers, which I don’t believe will give you a full 20 HP or 5 MPG increases, but it will increase them both decently. Now if you know anyone that’s good with metal work, my buddy custom fabricated a 3" and it is AMAZING. The power increase in incredible and it increased his MPG by problem 7.

wow you are full of doggy dooo dooo...

those things actualy HURT your gas mileage and HP. it lengthens the intake and makes the air travel FARTHER to the combustion chambers. those tornado things only add MORE restriction to the air flow. plus they don't even fit on our trucks (stock intake that is) because they are round our intakes are not.

if you really want to increase hp and mpg... then do a CAI swap and a catback and get the truck breathing better. not restricting it.

big red dodge and rubermeyer:
you should both read the article on the following link...the burning rom has this posted in his sig and gives a detailed account with dyno tests of exactly how worthless tb spacers are, and why. they may work on some vehicles, but not on the newer fuel injected vehicles, like our rams.
