Default My opinion on Spiralmax

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I recently joined the forum so I missed out. On the question about whether spiralmax, or tornado, or any other really work, my answer is that spiralmax works. Now before everyone calls me an idiot let me explain. My friend's father, who is a mechanic and has been working on cars his whole life, and has built ten second cars that were all motor, no nitrous or supercharger, put one in his chevy avalanche and said it worked. He, being a bigger skeptic than I am, saying that carried some weight. He even took me on before and after rides, and i noticed a difference. Now i know that things that work for a chevy vortec motor may not work on a dodge magnum motor, but I figured i'd give it a shot. I bought a spiralmax (he said the other brands were junk, being made out of cheap materials) and I put it in right behind the filter on my K&N intake. This made my truck slower. So after talking to my friend, he suggested that I move it back further in the tube, so i did, pretty much as far back as it could go, and i noticed a difference, this time a good difference. My truck seemed to have a little more get up and go to it, it was more responsive even under normal acceleration, and it seemed to take less effort to get up to speed. My truck has a 318 with basic bolt-ons and i'm avg about 13.5 mpg. I don't credit all of that to the spiralmax, but it obviously isn't hurting. So, long story short, I believe that the spiral max made a positive difference on my truck. I know that I am one person saying this when it seems like everyone else is saying otherwise, but I wouldn't be saying this if i didn't experience first-hand the difference. So if you used one and didn't notice a difference, or it got worse, maybe it was in the wrong spot, or maybe it worked for me because of the other stuff i've done to my truck, I don't know, but my opinion is that Spiralmax works.

Lol, I think it was a Spiralmax that my boss had in his Grand Cherokee...might've been a Tornado, I dunno...but the thing dislodged from the intake tube...I got a call from his cell phone shortly after he left work, wondering if I had any clue why when he got on the highway, his throttle was stuck at 3/4...any guesses?

I know it sounds like I work for them or sell them or something. I don't. I just know that there has been a lot of talk about it and I was just throwin in my two cents. If I was trying to get people to buy it than i would have made some crap up like it gave me 20hp, 5mpg improvement, and changes my oil for free.

If it dislodged from his intake than his was to small. I had to buy a 4 inch spiralmax to fit into my 3 1/2 inch intake tube because they squeeze down to a smaller size. It ain't goin nowhere.

Dyno numbers? I'd have to see dyno numbers to believe it from a 3rd party source...same vehicle...same day. I'm not a skeptic or anything. I just like proof [8D]

The link in my sig is to an article where they did a dyno test on an AirAid throttle body spacer. It would be nice if I could find another like it somewhere else to have to references, but one is better than none.

I understand that. Man, I'd love to dyno my truck anyway just to see where its at. I don't have any dyno numbers, but I noticed a diff by the seat-of-my-pants-dyno. I

search yahoo for about two weeks ago they put out an article from a major GM guy that tested the tornado and found them to be hurting the vehicle and a scam. they also stated that there was a lawsuit pending against the company making the tornado.

Thats why I just said spiralmax works, and not any other. From what i've heard the others are cheaply made.

I have an idea. What if we used a large window fan and a power inverter to to power it, mount it to the roof and run pvc down the windshield, thru the fender and into the intake. If I guarantee a 550% increase in horsepower, 60 lbs of torque and you will never have fill your tank again I bet I can make a few bucks.

By the way did anyone see 20/20 the other night. They had the inventor on of the Tornado, alittle Asian man, and questioned the validity of the product. The only thing he could say was " IT WORK!!!! IT WORK!!!!!
According to 20/20's testing none of the products shown work
