Default Headliner falling down. Help!

I have a 1997 2500 4X4 Ram Cummins which I bought new. With over 110,000 miles, it's the best truck I've ever owned. Most every part on the truck has performed better than expected. The whole truck is still in good condition and I hope to keep it as long as I can.
After years of sun and heat the headliner fabric is starting to come loose next to the windshield. Since I'm going to keep the truck I'd like to just replace the entire headliner instead of trying to glue the fabric. I've found a new one at a fairly good price but I don't know where to start to remove the old one. Mine does have the overhead console with the map lights but no digital thermometer.
Can someone describe how to remove it? Maybe post some pics?

For the time being, if the headliner is in your way, you can go to the craft section of Wal-Mart, back where they have all the fabric, and get some upholstery screws. They are basically a thumb tack with a twisted shaft that you can screw into the foam. A Haynes manual or the service manual which is available on this will probably give a good description of removing the headliner.

It hasn't got to the point where it's falling down that much. I wanted to relace it before it got that far.

That's a nice simple & inexpensive tip
to repair a common problem on older Rams!

Thanks ASH

You're welcome. I had to do it for my Spirit. If you run the screws in a pattern, they actually look pretty decent. Use a clear headed screw and you don't even notice them.
