Installing headers
I'll shortly be installing a set of Edelbrock headers. Looks like I need a donut shaped gasket to go between the header flange and the downpipe. What have you guys used for this?
Thanks for the help!

ooohh boy
first off... i hope you got them eddys for free or dirt cheep... thats the only reason any one in their right mind would run these headers.. myself, im on my SECOND set...(long story and not my choice) and the donuts you speak of are comprised of a lead based material,, witch will only last you between 4 to 6 months before they rot out and cause a major leak....
gibsons on the other hand are forged collector flanges and are all 1 peice .. witch dont rot out.. and will be going on my motor as soon as i can order the gibbys and send back the eddies...
where to find the lead donuts? good luck.. ive called 3 times asking for a new set and their customer service has declined to help me in any way shape or form
GOOD LUCK... your gonna need it

Shott, I know you are jaded by your experience with Edelbrock headers, but I think you are the minority. You also need to be clear that the problem is with the ti-tech coating. I know several silver ceramic coated edlebrock headers, including my own that are excellent headers, and the coating is holding up fantastically.
As for the lead donut, they are not hard to find at all. I got a set drop shipped to me from Summit racing. I don't recall the part number, but i found it rather easily, and it was shipped same day, no big deal.
I do agree that the lead donut is a bad design. I am on my second pair. Good thing though is that installation of the donut is extremely easy. Took me about 5 minutes to put my new ones in.

No I can't blame you for being sour at all.
014x459,
Yes, That's the correct part number. I checked my old Summit receipt, and that is it.
Which Edelbrock headers do you have though? The ones that Shott had comes with a different y-pipe, aka the TES tubular exhaust system headers. The ones I have (part #65642) did not come with a y-pipe, they are just shorties like Gibsons or JBA or other. Which ones did you get?

Thanks for the confirmation on the donuts.
I beg to differ on the edelbrocks. I had a set of the cermic-coat shortys installed on my vehicle about three years ago. On the drivers side, one of the primary tube welds completely cracked all the way around. I couldn't even get it re-welded, because the pipes are so tight together. Needless to say, it is garbage now. Edelbrock wouldn't help. Even when I offered payment for a new one. Due to that, and some other reasons, I won't be purchasing any Edelbrock headers anymore. Gibson has the lowest price on a stainless set. Regarding the donut, you can purchase a replacement from NAPA. Only thing is it is a little thicker than the Edel. ones.
