messed up front end
radwebster. there is camber. they are somehow set into the ball joints. they guy at my alignment shop said if i want my tires straight he would have to order ones with different camber specs.
after looking at both pics side by side and crawling under my 99 CTD and my freinds 2000 1500, it definatly looks bent. The angle of the upper ball joint looks to be about 2 deg off of everything else I have looked at. Tani, u are right, allignment shops set the camber with what they call off-set ( or "repair" ) ball joints. I would have the truck put on a alignment rack and have it checked out. Hope this helps out.

Well i do some alignments at our shop and ive had plenty of rams come in, to me that really looks bent im sorry to say but after looking at mine it does, to be sure take it to a trusty shop they'll lift it and check it out, it shouldnt cost ya a thing to have them really look at it, also in comment to Tani yes some componies do make special ball joints that change your camber i've seen them done in jeeps i know dodge can get them to but they are very rare to see and quite expensive to have done professionally thus why most people don't get them and/or don't even know about them
o and to be more specific there offset ball joints where its offset a certin degresses to bring the camber and caster closer or in spec. also the mechanic needs a special b-joint adapter to press them in if there offset, and there about a bone just for that kit plus the ball joints plus labor plus the alignment so you can see why people dont do it
thanx everyone. so it sounds like i don't need to buy a new front end. that was what my husband was gonna do. but from everything i read looks like she needs an aligment.
thanx for the help u guys were great.

I dont agree.
Almost every ram I have looked at looked bent.
My truck did as well. I never had a problem aligining it.
The wheels actually straightened back out when I installed new wheel bearings. Which is funny because the wheel bearings didnt have any play in them. Anyway.
I wouldnt do a thing if you are getting proper tread wear and it is aligned good.
If you are getting inproper tread wear I would get it aligned by a repudable shop. If they cant align it they will suggest the offset ball joints.
