The other day I moved the "heavy duty" fllor mat on the drivers side floor to find an absolutly soaked floor. Asked the old lady....you spill water ? Nope. It is just plain water. Took mat out, dryed the water up, wet vac.........and let it air a few days, it stayed dry. Put the mat back in and damn water is back . There is no sign of leakage anywhere........just soaked right in the middle of the floor, under the mat. A/C drain is draining fine........no window leaks, no damp carpet anywhere else etc.
It is damn hot down here, and run the A/C all the time..........it only seems to do this with the mat down.....the passenger side is slightly damp. With the mats out it does not do this.......ideas ???????

 

Thats odd. Never heard of that before. I dont really have any ideas for you except to keep the mat out until you figure out what the problem is. you dont want that carpet to get moldy. Good luck to you tho.

 

i.... uh.... yeah.. i have no clue either.. but it could just be condensation build up under the mat if you have the A/C blowing on it... i'd run a few days without the mat and see if that helps.

 

had it rained recently?..the reaason i ask is mine did the exact smae thing twice and i noticed that it had rained the night before but could not find where it was leaking from. I replaced the entire door weather stripping and have not had the problem since however it was not cheap and you might want to pinpoint where it is leaking from..mine was leaking (i think) from the very top forward-near the top of the windshield before the weather stripping starts running down the door jam

 

Smell it and see if it smells like antifreeze. Is there a film on the inside of the windsheild? See if it runs hot at all too. I'm not 100 percent sure where your heater core is located but that kind of sounds possible.

Thanks, it was just a thought anyway, but I have never changed one in a Ram pickup. I just thought it sounded possible.

even if it has not, what you have is a leak somewhere from either your weather stripping or your door.

Take the panel off in front of the door next to your leg. (should just be two or three screws and it should stretch back all the way behind your seat) Once you have done that you can pull the carpet up enough to get all of that pooled water dry. Then leave it pulled off and pour water on top of your truck and wait to see if it comes through anywhere on that side. Than move on to the front windsheild and so on. I did this and found out that the water was coming from behind the dashboard where the fender bolts to the frame. I also found out that it only does this when i park on an incline and it rains...so i make sure not to park on an incline anymore. I never fixed it becuase pulling the dash off is a pain, so i just make sure i park right and i have not had water in my truck in two years!!

 

I appreciate all the feedback. It has rained here everyday for a week. I pulled the mat out two days ago, the floor has stayed dry. I am pretty much a person of habit. Park at same place at work and home everyday. No incline. The water had no antifreeze it was clear fresh water. The pooling was right in the middle, I pulled the carpet back and no signs of leakage anywhere..........I would think if it were leaking from a seal, door or windshield it would leave a ttrail somewhere......something would be damp.
Here we are two days later no mat and it is dry as a bone. I dunno.......
Gonna put it back in over the weekernd I'll let ya know what happens.
