RE: Big Red Tonka Pictures-- here they are
holy **** that looks sick... screw them other haters... i like it!!!! GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!! looks like alot of work and alot of time and alot of money went into it!!!
one thing i do have to comment on... 40" tires with 3.73's? ARE YOU NUTS?!?!?!? are you gonna change gears anytime? or atleast lock the rear and front? i guess you wouldnt NEED to unless your were gonna do some serious mudding or offroading... but the thing is built to do so
i like iit!!!!!!! and again... why did you go 318 crate and then boost it...why didnt you go 360 and then went with a stroker kit...they make the 426 stroker now... im not doggin it or anything.. but i just curious thats all!!!
oh and how the hell do you get in it w/o stepbars? and how many feet do you need for a running head start?

I am glad you asked about the 40's paired with 3.73's......Yes first and for most there is a locker in both front and rear...Detroits.....The reason I went with 3.73 is that this motor direct from a Chrysler man was a crate motor from mopar performance...It is designed to run in the 2300-3200 rpm range for max driveability and power...I dumped the over drive with the new Jet trans and thus created a 3 speed trans...THE only area I notice the 3.73's is directly off the line to about 15 MPH then It screams as that supercharger spools up...
So I tried to spoil myself with a great highway ride and came real close..I want to be able to drive it to shows and not be running 3500rpms at 60 mph to do so...Right now whe runs 75 ish at 2700 r's...damn near perfect for highway..However this created another challenge--How to gain the torque back in loq range....SIMPLE 4:1 Built transfer case out of a rubicon, like spinning 4.56s and with that supercharger there is plenty of wheel speed to blow through some mud.....I will post those pictures from last winter in a local mud hole that big jeeps weren't getting through that I was walking though.....
SO this is my thinking and so far it has panned out for the most part....Not really worried about off the line start, but 15 to 70 is where I want the feeling in my *** ya know?????
The reason I went the 318 Crate at 350 horses was because through my research at the time, (and Paul Schroyer---a big mopar man in nearby Toledo) prooved over and over that the 360's when modified are 4 to 5 more times as likely to crack a block as the 318's....I know, I know they are manufacture with the same block, but for some reason there is something with the 360's cracking blocks when supercharged and modified--- Thus the 318 (modified crate) was my way to go, plus it is slightly easier to get to higher rpms faster.....
I'll keep you all posted about how this has worked out and mayber I will goto 4:11's or 4:10's but anything higher would ruin my happy medium I have going......I tell ya though, for a big Truck, this thing will still move the way it is set up now!!!
thanks, Kyle

understandable
the crack block theroy i dont agree with... our fellow RM_Indy was running a 360 block medium/heavy built with a ATI at 7 yo 9 PSI (IIRC) and was running 12 to 13's in the 1/4.. super strong... now he has gone to a stroker kit ..
dunno..either way..that truck is wicked nice.. love the tire and wheel combo!

Let me ask you guys this---since there is a stroker for the 360's wouldnt the same stroker work for a 318---since it is the same block???????
Might be an option for me this winter, maybe, but its hard to tear into a motor that is practically brand new!!!

yes,,, there is.. i cant remember the added displacement.. i think it gets it into the 340-350 range.. but im not postive.,.. KRC performance i think have them..along with the 408 and i think the 426 stroker too.. the 426 from a 360 block JUST came out not too long ago..and ive only heard from one dude that it is SICK
