I added KVR cd rotors and KVR c/m pads back in spring of 98 and have tons of life left in them (approx 35k miles/driving it like I stole it ). Stops on a dime though uses a bit more peddle. Brake fade is less than a slotted rotor as the cd's run over 200 degrees cooler than a slottedl. I swap street/race rims/tires on a regular basis and always inspect the rotors. No cracks here.

Heard of one guy up here (Canada) that chewed up his pads in the first winter with slotted rotors,. The road crews lay a lot of salt in the winter here in Ontario. I never winter drive my 96 so can't comment from my own experience. I do know of 2 guys that do run cd's in the winter with no issues(last I heard).

I'll probably go to a cd/slotted next year with some braided lines as well. Like to have discs out back as well & maybe a chute

I have heard very good things about those KVR drilled rotors. They are very good quality. If I ever went with drilled rotors, that would probably be the ones I would go with.

i didnt research when i bought my CD rotors.. i just jumped at the clearence sale summit had for their brand of CD rotors..then i all these questions came up about them in the past month.. but hell.. 50 bux a rotor.. even if they do bust this winter.. still cheeper the stock type replacements..after that ill get slotted...

they stop the hell out of me though.. along with my rear discs.. im a stopping machine..
No more issues with locking the rears when it's wet ... or the RWAL kicking in? Did the disks come with a replacement proportioning valve?

Wish I could afford a big brake kit, but like most I'm not made of money either (still gotta pay my beast off!). I found a company that will give me front and rear rotors with pads for $300, they will drill/slot them or just slotted for that price, and they come with the zinc coating to prevent rust.
Holy crap ... is that a rear CONVERSION ... or do you already have rear disks?

Sorry ... probably one of the stupider questions asked here ... I'll go sit down now. [&o]

LOL, Naw, not stupid, I know most don't come with the rear discs, but mine did. Not sure if it was just part of the Sport package, or if the guy ordered them as an option, I got the truck with 3k miles on it. But finding a company that makes rotors for it is a real pain! Just found a company called Disc Itallia that makes some nice looking cd/slotted, kinda pricey though.
