Default idea for a mod to include ABS and wheeling

I was/am reading the latest issue of four wheeler and they had an interesting article here talking about when your offroading and having to make a hard stop and that annoying ABS kicks in whenever it wants.. abs doesnt work well in offroading times b/c dirt obviously doesnt have the same friction as pavement does. and since almost all abs systems (in our trucks atleast) are calibrated and designed for on road use. this idea became a really cool idea.. i remember TMS bill mentioned that he wishes he had control on when he locked up his brakes.. and i agree.. it should be your call...not the computers..

well this mod includes some wire. a switch and some spade terminals and a inline fuze holder.. basicly you remove the ABS fuze from the box..and work up two wires so that each end mimics an end to look like a fuze.. plug in these two inds into the slot made for the abs fuze.. you wire in the inline fuze you have in one of the wires..preferably the same amount of amps as the one that was orignally in the abs fuze slot.. run both these wires to a switch in the cab and presto.. you can command the current on off to the abs system.

now this mod in the magazine is made for a toyota piece of junk..but i think it should work for ours.. for you hardcore or recreational offroaders...

the onlything i could thing that could screw up this idea.. is that if you have ever diconected the abs harness from the modual .. your speedo doesnt wrok and your abs light stays on... im not sure if this would have the same effect as to just cutting of the power... like if the fuze blows..your speedo still should work

anyway.. if anyone wants to try this idea.. let us know how it works...

its not a really cool mod but a usefull one and it allows you to mount a switch somewhere.....and everyone knows switches are friggen cool!!!!

id do it but as of right now im live lined and REALLY dont feel like rebleeding..

Cool idea except ... Dodge already took care of it for us ... sort of. You're saying ABS ... I'm thinking RWAL. That's disabled during 4-by operation. Are you talking about 4 wheel ABS?

thats for the correction bill.. but yes i was talking abour RWAL.. and it would be a good idea if you wanted to disengage it anytime you wanted regardless of 4 wheel operations... i didnt know that about the 4 wheel disengment.. thanks for the info!!!

either way.. still lets you add more switches..and as a i said before...switches friggen rule

Roger that. I may just try this mod. Even after a month or so of wear on the 1-ton mod, I can still make the rears bark by jumping on the pedal. But the RWAL limits it to just a second. That's a sound you hear so rarely anymore ... the sound of howling tires ... stupid modern technology. [:'(]
