Hello it is my first time here, and also a first time truck owner. I have a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Laramie. Since my new trcuk is fairly old the rear view mirror fell and it took with it the connector that is attached to the wire that supplies power to the auto dim mirror. the wires are color coded.. i think, and the connector has a 1,2,3 numbering. now all i need is to connect the right wire to the right hole, thanks for the all the info

I have a 95 manual for 1500/2500/3500. Can you be a little more specific and I will see if maybe the 95 wiring is the same. I don't think there were any changes in color for 3-4 years. Dirvers side, pass side,etc. What exatly is broken again? And what are the colors of the three wires in question?

 

it is the wiring harness that supplies power to the Rear View Mirror (auto dimming), the connector that plugs behind the mirror got separated from the wires. the wire colors are black, purple, brown. and the connector has a 1,2,3 numbering, I hope i am making any sense, which color to which number? thanks for the help

Well Bene, my 95' manual shows the following:


Brown (BR) with (LG) lite green tracer is #1

Solid black (BK), no tracer is #2

Violet (VT) with (BK) black tracer is #3



It also show the number sequence on the connector as 1,3,2.


I hope that helped. There's always a chance our colors are NOT the same.

I pulled an auto-dim from a 98 LHS or something of that nature, and was going to put it in my car (yes car. this is the only spot i could find that hinted to the wire diagram). only diff from mine and what is listed it the brown(blue on mine). but when i hook it up, what is power, ground and the rev. signal? i'm guessing black is ground. also when i install it, can i hook up the power to the parkign lights so it only functins when the lights are on? and do i need the reverse signal?

 

I need to know which wire does what as well.. I have a new mirror and would like to hard wire it .. Just need to know what each of the three wires do.. pos, neg...etc. thanks

 

I just got some nice after market towing mirrors from 1997 dodge ram on clist. And i need to modefy my wiring from 6 to 3, any idias ??? Thanks. Mike
