I have to agree with RAM IT. The motor just needs more cool air. Before I spend 300. on a plastic tube, I'll get some PVC, rubber connector, clamp and a filter, and fab one up. OOps, the PVC idea is already taken. OK a dryer vent hose then....

Just get a good quality or K&N filter and let the air in. Have to admit, the filter box is not the greatest, but the air source from the fender is as close to a scoop as it gets with out rain in the engine compartment.
The main reason behind the k&n kit is not the cool air, but you get rid of the factory ribbed air tube. The smooth k&n tube almose completely gets rid of the turbulence caused by the factory air intake tube. It allows for higher air speeds inside the intake tube and reduced turbulence.

IMO my iac was my best, it was also my fist.

i asked a million newby questions when i firts got here and im still gonna ask some more. I asked the same question that he asked a bunch of times. and it took a lot of patient people a long time to help me. and the only way that i found out that my plenum was blown and that i was missing 2 bolts out of the rear of my intake manifold was because i asked all those "stupid questions." I would have never gotten to the bottom of that doing a search. I didnt know what a plenum was. I couldnt have searched for it. I figured one of you guys would come to my house and shoot me after a while. And i have to thank people like steve00ram360, shot8283, burning rom and some other people that arent on right now. I bought my truck used w/ 8,000 miles on it and it has NEVER run this good. thanks for the torque, thanks for the horespower, thanks for not shooting me.

I have dual 2.5 inch pipe straight off the manifold back to dual 40 series flowmasters. No cats. I lost alot on the low end, but gained some on the big end. I didn't gain enough on the big end though to compensate for the loss on the low end.

the 180 t-stat will lower the head temp which will lower the temp on the intake runners which will make your air intake charge a little denser which will help with a wee bit of hp. it's not much but the cooler your intake air the more HP you'll make.

I've got a 180 t-stat too. It feels like it performs better, but I'm a numbers guy so we'll see after I take to the track.
