Turbo idea for my 5.2
Hello... first time the forum. In search of some questions/answers...
Looking for turbo solutions for my 5.2L 318 in my 2000 dodge ram. I'm strongly considering going with twins also..
First... I ask, can you put a turbo on just one manifold? I would think this would create unbalanced backpressure, and shorten the life of the motor, but I could be very wrong.
The motor is currently stock... and was curious if I should mod the motor first, maybe some headwork or new heads. M1 intake, and a few other things.
Also... my truck is build as a daily driver, and weekend trail rig. It sees mostly pavement, but isn't completely built for just that.
Now, I know I'm going to hear "get a CTD and sell your 1500". I'm not going for any longer of a wheel base. I'm not going to swap in a CTD into my 1500 for sheer weight issues. I'm going to be gaining plenty of weight as it is with the potential Dana 60/80 setup I'm hoping for.
I'm running 10" of lift... which includes a 3" body lift, so I have penty of room for the turbo(s).
I've been searching for turbo setups on a magnum powered ram, and have come up with nothing.

Here's my rig. 2000 model 1500, 5.2L, 5spd NV3500, and extras.

Well... I know this isn't the "Hello/Greetings" section or whathaveyou... however... my post mainly pertained to questions I had on outfitting my 5.2L with a turbo solution. I just included some info and a picture of my ram so you guys knew what I was dealing with.
My truck is a 2nd gen last time I checked... and that's why I put it in the 2nd gen forum.
Where should I have posted? Or is the 2nd gen forum for stock vehicles?

Hey GRI!!! What's up, man...
I'm a newb when it comes to turbo's... I'll admit. I'm just trying to learn...
This won't transpire until next year... I've got other things to pay for through the end of this year.
I'm thinking, though, either I'll be able to build a kit that I might consider selling... or will learn there is a reson no one has done this kind of mod for the magnum motors. We shall see...

if you want to go with turbo's deffinatly upgrade the internals first if you want to run real boost. I used to run 20psi but that was on forged internals with a turbo friendly 8:1 compression ratio. then make sure the engine breaths well, ported head, then you can make a nice set up. if you want to just slap turbo's on a stock motor I wouldnt run more than 5psi on a motor in good shape.
