Default New muffler installed

Well, I finally had enough with my Flowmaster 50 SUV muffler. It sounds great at idle and low rpm (low deep rumble, but not overly loud in the cab), but when I get on the gas, it just goes kinda quiet (at least as heard from in the cab). With the mods I have, I want it to sound good at high rpm too. So, I went down to my favorite performance muffler shop, and had them swap in a Flowmaster Super 40. It is great. Same deep sound and only slightly louder at idle and low rpm then the 50 SUV was, but it now stays loud and aggressive when I get on the throttle, just what I was looking for. Interior resonance at highway speeds is no worse then the 50 was either (which couldn't have been too bad since my wife never complained about it being too loud ). Probably because the Super 40 has some of the Delta Flow technology (kinda like the 40 Series Delta Flow) that is supposed to cut back in cab resonance compared to the original 40 Series muffler.

So, this also means that I have a Flowmaster 50 SUV if anyone wants it. It was on my truck since March of '05 (so about 19 months or so). It is still in very good condition. It is single 3"in/out. It will work in any single exhaust setup (installer can just neck it down if you still have the stock pipe that is 2.5"). If anyone wants it, let me know. I'll probably post it in the for sale stuff in a few days, but wanted to give you all first crack at it if anyone is wanting to save some money on a muffler. Make me an offer and it's yours.

Here is the Flowmaster chart to show you where the 50 SUV sits in case your interested.

I found it in my friends barn and was like "man I think this will flow good with my truck, lets make it come out the side!" so thats what we did. It sounds awesome when I drive and it bounces off other cars ;-)

Ya, that is pretty sweet. Might have to go back down to the muffler shop and redo mine again. [&:]

Oh, and some of you might be wondering why I went with another Flowmaster. Before I decided on this Super 40, they let me listen to a Magnaflow, an Imco V-Force, and a single chamber that I think was a Dynomax. The Flowmaster was by far the best sounding (in my opinion). The Imco was good too, but was just too loud in the cab, even at idle. The Magnaflow was too quiet at idle and not very deep, and the single chamber was just too harsh, not the deep Flowmaster rumble.

Yeah, I agree on the Flowmaster having the best sound. I love my Flow 40. I have 2.25" duals out of it with 3.5" tips. It's really loud and nasty idling and when you accelerate, but it is very tolerable at highway speeds....
Silver - whats the difference in sound between a regular 40 and the "Super 40"?

I didn't try the regular 40, but from what I was told and have read, it is as loud as the Super 40 from the outside, but with more in cab resonance. The Flowmaster website even tells you approximatly what RPM ranges to expect high amounts of interior resonance with it. That is why I didn't even try it, I was trying to avoid that.

i'll give it to you that flowmaster is good, I had a dynomaxx on there and it sucked, i heard a gibson that sounded good, and a few trucks with no exhaust that sound really good. By no exhaust I mean muffler.
