Runs rough when first started up
I did a search, and found several others who posted this same problem, but none of the posts really came to a conclusion as to what the problem was or what the fix was.
When I start the truck after it has set overnight, it starts right up, and seems to idle fine. But when I start to drive, I almost have to feather the throttle because it runs rough under any amount of acceleration/throttle. This goes on for about 1-3 minutes at the most, then it runs fine. Every once in a while, it will backfire out the TB during that 1-3 minute window, but that only happens if I try to give it full throttle during the time it is running rough. If I feather the throttle though, it doesn't backfire, and starts to run fine after just a few minutes.
I just had my TB off when I installed the 1.7's a month or so ago, and cleaned up the IAC (which is what I thought might be causing this). It does seem to be a little worse since the last round of mods I did, which included Mopar PCM, 1.7's, new plugs, wires, cap rotor, and TB clean.
What I think is that I am just running rich or lean when I first start it up, and the the PCM adjusts. Any thoughts from you all?

I recently switched from my Champion copper plugs (oem plugs) to Autolite 3923's. It does seem to be slightly worse with these 3923's. I might try going back to the stock plug to see if that helps at all. I prefer to run the 3923's since I have timing advanced via the Mopar PCM, but since it is winter, I could probably run the stock plug without any pinging issues. I'll give it a try and see if that helps.
I have a 100% new ignition system, new O2 sensors and a clean IAC, and mine runs lousy in the morning, too. After about 3 minutes of driving, it's back to normal and runs well. I don't know what else could be causing it, so I've just accepted that it's the way it is. It always fires right up and doesn't stall.
I was, however, having some random rough idle problems that did cause backfiring through the throttle body and surging and stalling at lights. A new O2 seems to have cured that particular problem.
Now if I could only figure out why it's knocking now...

do this Reid.... next time it's convinient pop the hood and take a blow dryer to the IAC valve. heat it up some, then fire it up and take it for a short drive. see if you still have the problem. I bet your IAC is sticking. if so, you can try to yank it and spray some lube on the shaft area, it may just have some gunk in there that may need to be coaxed from its current spot. or if it does point to the IAC, you may just want to replace it.

Thanks Steve, i'll give that a shot and see what happens. My neighbors are going to think i've lost my mind out there with a hairdryer under the hood first thing in the morning.[&:]
What's the price for a new IAC?

my truck is a 01 and has been doing it since day 1.. a lot of trucks have automatic chokes.. even diesels do.. its just putting more fuel in the engine to warm it up and get the fluids circulating.. if you havent noticed but its worse in the winter time then summer because the engine is so much colder.. trust me guys i think all this is is just the engine warming up in the mornings because mine would rev up and run rough for about 3 minutes then it would stay around 900-1000 rpms till i got going.. then it would be fine when the engine warmed up.. nothing to worry about
