Default question for someone who has done it already!

Ok. I am getting ready to make my 360 a 408 stroker and I am trying to get as much torque out of it as possible. i need to hear from guys who have already gone through this mod and know what works and what doesn't. Hughes will set me up will almost everything but I still have some questions. Intake...which kind or brand if any would work well for torque? Fastman said a 55mm TB would be good. I plan on putting a full MSD ignition (minus dist. of course since they don't make one for my app.), underdrive pully's, and electric fans. Is there anything else that you guys would suggest? I know i will have to do the computer reflash but can i still run 87 octane? Let me know guys. I need your experienced knowlege! Oh yea its a 1997 Ram 5.9 motor.

I would get headers and exhaust if you don't already have them. The type of fuel you use will be dependent on how much timing you run and how much compression you have. Also a good cold air intake. As far as the intake manifold you don't have alot of options, pretty much a modified stock kegger or an M1. The M1 will give you more upper end, but depending on how you have the new motor set up it may or may not matter that much. If you can provide some cam specs and your compression ratio it would be alot easier to point you in the right direction. If you plan to order from Hughes you might ask them, they know an awful lot about this kind of stuff.

Has anyone dynoed their 408 stroker, what kind of power are people making with these? I am considering this mod in the future myself.

Go to KRC Performances website they have some dyno sheets from various motors and mods.

I have headers, dual 3 inch exhaust, and a CAI. I am really looking for guys who have done this mod and built it for torque and not horsepower. I am talking to hughes right now and they are really good to work with. Just wondering if anyone has already done this and if they had any pointers.

I sec that , if your looking for torque, ( same thing im going for) one of the main things with building the 408 is gunna be the cam and really all of the valve train. starting with a good high torque cam will really help put. most guys say use the stock intake manifold with but cut the runners. get the computer reprogrammed and get the torque managment system taken off.
