Which ATF do you run?
nope, IIRC atf-4 is compatible with atf3... started doing the atf-4 swap during the last service on the 2000 before selling it. the tranny shop owner said there was no problem and they were compatible.
I first serviced my trans with Dexron III in 2003. Since then I have changed the filter and fluid twice with Dexron III.
I did this before finding this site and I went by what was written on the dipstick. I work at a Chevy dealer so it was easy enough for me to use Dexron.
I have put at least 30,000 miles on my truck since the first change. I have also added a Flex-a-Lite cooler.
My trans has been great... so great that I am afraid to put ATF+4 in it....
I am going to switch to Mobil 1 Sythetic sometime soon...
Read my sig for my truck specs....
Good Luck with whatever you run...

I use dexron 3.
currently im running Vavoline full synthtetic ATF+4.. and infact your "saposed" to be using +4 in all dodge trannies.. IIRC there was a TSB out that suggesting the swap.. but +3 is still fine to use and starting to be a bit cheeper.

All Ram trucks from 1989 on are recommended to be filled with ATF+4. (And if the owners manual states to use ATF+4 DO NOT use anything else). ATF+4 is backwards compatible with all previous versions, but previous versions are not forwards compatible.
And shott8283, you like the Valvoline? I'm gonna be swapping my trans fluid in December, and was just wondering if ya like it.
