Runs rough for few minutes then smooths out
I'm having a problem with my 2000 Dodge RAM 1500 5.9L. It idles fine for about a minute and then starts running very rough, almost sounds like it is going to quit, After about 2-3 minutes, it will smooth out and runs fine until you turn it off for i'm guessing 20 mins or so. I have cleaned the IAC plunger. It makes a loud vaccum sound for a few seconds when i am guessing the IAC is wide open then closes back down. Any ideas?
sounds like you have a vaccum leak going on. hard to find... don't even know where to tell you to start looking other than tha IAC area. (that's the area you messed with) could just simply be a loose hose. or a broken one.
Take a can of carb cleaner and spray it around the base of your throttle body. As you do that listen for the idle to change, if it does focus on the area you were spraying on when it changed. Shouldn't be too hard to find then, but those vacuum leaks can really kick your *** if you aren't careful.
