yea i had the same question, its usuially right below 40psi when idleing/low speed crusin, but during acceleration its just slightly above or right at 40psi. didnt seem to fluctuate enough to me, but if thats how it is, cool.

yah your voltage will be lower at idle too. there all running off the moter so at higher rpm they spin faster (obvusally) so they get better preformance

Just posted this in another thread the minimum for a stock oil pump

6psi @ curb idle
30psi @ 3000rpms

If you are below that then there is a problem.

Regarding the Ford, I read somewhere that Ford (depending on how old) used a sensor that is on or off, not variable like most others. I think it comes on at 4psi, so you're right when you say it wouldn't move. My folks had a Ford van that made me wonder, oil pressure jumped to mid range on the gauge at startup and never moved, so I checked into it.

my voltage guage dont move. now there again it did move on my ford at idle with lights heat and wipers on. all lights would dimm . butt the dodge i can have everything on and it dont move and all the lights stay bright. i like this becuse the heat blower would slow down on my ford and the dodge is still blasting the heat blower on you at all times.

If your lights and stuff dim when you turn the heater and stuff on then your alternator is either too low of an amp for your accessories or isn't working properly.
