Misfire Codes
Iv been through the Forum Search and read alot of great advise on Misfire codes and likely causes. Iv changed the wires to MSD 8.5mm along with a Sumitt Performance Cap/Rotor. I changed the plugs a few months back with Bosch Platimums and just put in a full tank of Super Unleaded.
The CE light just came back on and the codes are P0300 and P0304 (Multiple and #4 misfire).
Iv checked down in the Intake and see only brown staining, no standing oil.
One of the posts I read on misfiring and plugs suggested Champion Truck plugs instead of the Platimums. Is this the next best step based on what I have?

First, check the routing of your plug wires. There is a TSB out there that discusses the proper routing. Second, how many miles on your truck? A clogged catalytic converter can cause a misfire. I would recommend taking the truck to a muffler shop and having it pressure checked. Mine was misfiring on #4 (plus an immense lack of power). The new exhaust system worked wonders.
Thanks for the help.
When I got the code again this AM I pulled the codes and again, P0300 and P0304. I put the Timing Light on it and have fire to #4. I don't notice a change in performance when the light comes on either.
Here are my #2 and #4 plugs.

Plugs looks fine. Check the wiring routing first and then have the cat pressure checked. Read this for the wire routing. Be forewarned: It's a royal PITA http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl654h.htm
Thanks
While I had the two plgs out I decided to check the gaps. I found most were about .040-.045 so I pulled them all down to .035 and I also re-routed the Coil wire. (the new 8.5mm Sumitt wire set came with a real short coil wire, so I had to get a stock replacement from Autozone).
Now that I re-set the gaps and re-routed the coil wire (shouldn't have the induction problems with the new MSD wires) the CE codes haven't come back and it seems to be running a bit better.
What other issues would I have with a bad Cat?

If all maintenance is performed on a vehicle, the cat is supposed to never fail. That means regular oil changes, filter changes, and monitoring the O2 sensors, plugs, etc. If a local muffler shop can check the cat for free (pressure check or temperature check) then I recommend it just as a precaution.
Wasn't wiring the distributor, according to the TSB, an absolute joy? [:'(]
especially just after changing the cap and rotor a few days ago, yeah PITA [:@]

thats the tsb for wire routing. ive read that if you have the wires crossed improperly it can cause misfires. I guess if you have the wires crossed wrong at all it can misfire.. not just for the tsb. do a search on the net. you'll find something on it
