Every morning I get a P0505 (idle air control malfunction) error when I start the truck. After 3 drive cycles during the day, the code clears itself. I does not appear again until I start the truck the next morning. Anyone else have this problem or any clues for a solution?

idle air control is set to a diffrent setting when in closed loop (which is when the truck is cold). let me ask you, when you turn on the truck, does it idle high like normal startup or does it just drop to normal hot opperating rpms? if your gettin the code, youll prolly wanna replace the iac motor or valve, whatever these trucks have.

The IAC controls idle like said above. Before you replce the IAC clean it out and see if that helps you.
Take the TB off and take the 3 sensors and linkage off. The sensor on the back of the TB is the IAC. Clean the hole it sits in really good and wire down the IAC itselt.

I replaced the IAC abouty six weeks ago with a brand new one fro advance auto parts. I have also cleaned the TB and done a complete tune-up with the exception of the spark plug wires which were about one month old. I think it normally idles high a few minutes and then it settles down. However, one morning it idled at 1500-2000 rpm for what seems like forever. Does this tell you anything?

I had the P0505 code on my 01 Ram also. I disconnected the wiring harness and verified the connections were ok. Then I used di-electric grease on the harness connection and re-connected it. Have not had the issue since. Maybe you have a connection that isn't quite right when the engine is cold.

TurkeyHunter,
You are Da Man!!! Since I used the grease I have not had a problem. The check engine light has not been on again for 2 days. Thanks such a cheap and easy fix. A shop would have charged me hundreds of dollar replacing perfectly good parts. This is a grat forum.
