TPS
Well I have some slight surging and I was going to take the advice of the forum and buy a new TPS. Where should I purchase this from? Also is there anything else that I can take a look at while I am working on the pickup? Thanks guys and have a Happy Turkey day.
What he said^^^ About $35. You could also get a can of spray carb cleaner and clean your Throttle Body while you are at it. If you haven't done it, a tune-up with a new distributor cap & rotor, plugs, and plug wires would probably benefit you too. Just don't buy platinum plugs..... Check your air filter for dirt, and you could add a little bit to performance by adding a K&N or Fram AirHog drop-in filter. About $50
sorry but what is an iac? Also is there a certain brand of wires, plugs, distributor cap and rotor. I am not looking for a performance jump just want to make sure i get good parts.
IAC is the Idle Air Control motor on the back of the TB. It controls the air to the tb at idle. If your truck's rpm fluctuates much at idle - the IAC is probably dirty or going bad. Mine was just dirty and a thorough cleaning of the tb and IAC plunger and hole it goes in fixed it. Go to this link for tips on cleaning the TB and IAC - http://www.v8performance.com/tipsandtricks.htm#ResetPCM
Just make sure you get a distributor cap with brass contacts. NAPA has them, just get their best cap and rotor set - like $14. Get good plug wires - not the cheapest ones they have. You don't need $90 MSD's, but get good ones from NAPA or where ever. You can use Champion Truck Plugs, NGK, or Autolite. Just don't get any "fancy" platinum plugs - they suck.

Posts #4 & 5.......I put a wire routing diagram on that one too...

YO! YO! YO! BEFORE YOU GO SPRAYING THAT TB READ MY POST ABOUT LOSING THE SPRAY STRAW DOWN THE TB INTO THE INTAKE! It was recommended to me by most people in here to REMOVE the TB to clean it and all associated parts. Ended up removing the intake to find it (the lil' bugger was in there, just about wanting to enter the head), doing a plenum fix while I was there, timing chain (why not, already into it), upper, lower and bypass hoses, t-stat and antifreeze. All because I tried to do a quick job.........................

Didn't it occur to you that removing four bolts and you can have the throttle body in your hot little hand?
Imagine *dropping* one of those bolts down the intake when installing the throttle body on a freshly rebuilt engine [:@] Luckily, some wire and duct tape (along with cut down runners) helped in the retrieval effort.
...............why no Einstien it DIDN'T occur to me at the time. Matter of fact I didn't think it was really anything to worry about until I asked in here, by that time it had been driven a bit and the item was no longer visible. Long story about how it got there ......
