I would check out the FSM and look at all the sensors and grounds too. I doubt you have to worry about the air bags deploying whole working on it, but read the FSM first. You can unplug the battery too so you know it can't go off.

No joke. This is the one time when smart-*** answers should be kept silent, and the owner should put a crowbar in his wallet and have it professionally inspected. Like them or not, the airbags are in place for a reason.

Airbag light usually indicates a circuit problem, or a bad impact sensor. Look at your grounds. Make sure they're tight.

My airbag light has been going on randomly for 2 years. No garage could find the fault, not even the dealership. It was driving me crazy so I removed the 2 fuses and the cluster bulb. End of story.
