About 12 posts before asking...My truck overheats when I have the plow on over 40 mph (yeah I know you're not supposed to go over 45 mph) I put the 180 stat, coolant flush and I'm going to check the clutch fan next but I don't think thats the problem. I want to put a electric fan in front for when I have the plow on and keep the oe fan for daily driving. Any reason why I shouldn't do that? or will a high powered electric fan work in place of the two of them?

I would say that the electric fan would do fine on it's own , but let me ask you a question does your truck overheat only when driving with the blade up or when plowing? The only reason I'm asking is that I have to keep my straight blade on angle and at a certain height or I'll overheat while driveing around oh and I'll run 55mph .

Thats odd. Might be an air bubble or something. When the fan clutch goes bad it usually stays engaged so the fan is spinning all the time. Electric might help out though, engine won't be working as hard at least.

That's weird we virtually have the same truck . Do you have a large rubber snow deflector on top of the blade ? Mine did I took it off didn't help a whole lot while plowin any way .

Socha_62 might be right about the air bubble or clutch fan too.

just a side note...if you do decide on e-fans...you need more than 2 12 inchers, thats what i installed on mine, and it barely keeps it at 190, so i imagine with the strain of plowing...need much larger....im gonna upgrade to probably a 18 inch and a 16 inch

That is weird mopar 98...socha...air bubble? I'm going to check my fan clutch tomorrow. I didn't think that was the problem because it runs great when the plow is off, doesn't overheat etc.

Just thought of something . What size tires are you running ? I had to lower my mount on the truck when I went to the tires I have right now so my blade does travel up and down different than what did with the stockers . I never really plowed a lot with the stock setup . Maybe thats the prob .

Shott has electric fans, they're either dual 10's or 12's and he hasn't had a problem. You need to look at CFM too, cheap ones will have a low flow rate.

Look in Summit catlog they sell a 12 in. fan that pulls 3000cfm made by Cool breze or something like that. Two of them would keep it cool I would think. Don't know haw many amps they would pull.
