Default 97 Ram trouble code 15 speed sensor

I have a 97 Dodge Ram Sport with a 5.9. I am getting a Trouble Code 15 (no speed sensor signal detected). I replaced the speed sensor with a new one from the dealer and cleared the trouble code by removing the battery cable. The trouble code came on again as soon as i started to drive. I checked in the Haynes repair manual but could not find anything else that may give me that trouble code. Can anyone give me any advice?

I'm having the same problem. Did you ever get a solution?

I never got the problem fixed. Still driving the truck with the light on. Let me know if you find a solution to the problem and I will let you know if I find one.

Which speed sensor did you replace? Where was it located?

Check all connections and ground wires.

I checked the voltage going to the sensor and according to the Haynes Manual it should be 8 volts but I only got a reading of 5.4 volts. The signal voltage from the PCM gave the correct reading of 5 volts.

OK, like I stated, check all wires, grounds, etc. The problem with these newer cars with PCMs is that one ground or connection with corrosion causes a voltage interruption (like what you have) which leads to a CE light.
