Do Headlight Polish/Cleaners Work?- UPDATE
I was considering purchasing new headlights but a buddy of mine suggested i search Ebay for headlight polish/cleaner.
My headlights are yellow/faded.
I searched Ebay and sellers claim that it will restore or clear up the yellow discoloration.
Any one tried this before? Does it work? Or is it just one of the SUCKER stamps waiting to be pounded on my forehead?
Most are no more than 6 bucks. Think its worth the try?
Just looking for any possible experiences.
Thanks !

I have not tried them but i saw them at carquest and was wondering how well they work. I have used wet sand paper 2000 grit and polishing compound on really bad faded ones and it works pretty well but takes a lot of buffing. Matt
I've done the same 2 things as cumminsgetsome. Wet sand and a good compound cleaning works good. Also if you go to the auto store look for "Plastic Cleaner." The bottle I have is a white bottle with blue lettering. I forget the company that makes it. Works good too.
Those kits don't work very well. Also you will need to protect the lens after wet sanding/buffing with a UV polymer or they will turn yellow in no time. When you wet sand or use compound to clean up a lens you are taking the UV protectant off of it. Hope this helps!
As far as i can tell it is on the outside.
I went ahead and ordered the kit last night.
I will test it out and see how well it works. If it doesn't then i will give the sandpaper a try.
Before and After Pictures will be posted..
Thanks guys

As far as plastic cleaners for the headlight lenses, I believe you need a long polishing cloth that fits on a drill, much like how the intake and exhaust ports are polished out on heads.
I've used this stuff on an old Ranger, both of my wife's Jeep GC's and on my Ram with pretty good results.
