Time for Tires
I know this has been discussed before. And i've used the SEARCH key. However, much like walking in a bar and ordering a budweiser, i thought i'd post a topic for discussion. And remeber, no one bitches about always drinking the same beer...
So, it's tire time. Got old 35 12.5 r 15 BFG A/T on it now.
Do I go new set of A/T's ( and get some baja claws on other rims for summer )
New Set of BFG M/T's
Goodyear MT/R's
Feel Free to Comment

RE: Time for Tires
Ya, no kindding, haven't seen Shott around these parts much latley.
I agree that MT's are not the best in the winter, at least for ice. They do well in the deep stuff though, similar to how they perform in mud.
I like to run an aggressive looking tire, but living in Colorado, I have found that the most extreme I dare go is an AT. Anything beyond that is just scary on ice, which is what is always left after just about every snow storm comes and goes and the snow begins to melt. My BFG's do ok on ice, I wouldn't say they are stellar, but I can live with it. The alternative is some boring looking street/highway tire that would probably do better on ice, but I prefer how AT's perform for me in the mountains when I am on back country trails. They also have a higher load rating then most street tires, which is important for me since I haul loads and tow often.

RE: Time for Tires
well i dk where you live, but if its somewhere with snow then what im about to say may not be valid, cuz i rarely drive in snow
i would go with mud tires. you said you had ATs before and you may have liked them, and most people i know do like them. but if you ask me, its just a bad compromise. they took a street tire and a mud tire and tried to make a tire that would be best for both..... i think they just made a tire that is less than average on both terrains. but as i said most people like them so its just one opinion.
