I've been running the larger PH8A for a couple of years with no issues.Since its longer than stock thefilter topisin line with the serpentine belt, so if you throw your belt chances are its gonna give the oil filter some level of damage. Of course if you throw the belt, you'll be shutting down the engine pretty quick anyway so it shouldn't matter as long as you remember to inspect and/or replace the filter.

fram filters suck. stay away from them. the aforementioned ac delco filters are good. purolator is decent too. i am running a tried and true WIX filter. wouldnt run anything else, unless i was in a bind.

long style filters are great by the way... easier to reach too.

I run a Motorcraft FL-1A. It's a larger style filter and I read somewhere that their QC standards are of the highest in the industry.Main thing is change it when it's time and your engine will stay clean.

Your running a 4.7L which has the filter in the front.
The Magnum engines have the filter in the rear.
No chance of the belt hittin' it back there.

I've also heard Fram filters suck. I've run them a few times but not much.

I run a Purolator Pure One filter and Royal Purple oil in my truck. In the newer Honda I have a pure one filter on there now but this is the first time. I usually run a Honda filter and Royal Purple Oil. The dealer was closed when I needed a filter thats why it has the pure one now. I plan to go back to a Honda filter. The Chevy I run a AC Delco filter and Royal Purple oil. In the old Honda I run a Purolator regular filter with Royal Purple Oil. I had switched to cheap Penzoil but I've gone back to Royal Purple for now. I don't know how long I will keep it. I used to run a K&N filter on it but got tired of paying $12 for them.
