Default Sport BUmper on Regular Ram

I am lookig for a new front bumber for my 1997 1500 4x4 Dodge Ram. I was looking @ the aftermarket pre-runner style but they seem to be really expensive. I was wondering if the plastic sport version front bumper fits my Ram? Does anybody know? Also if anybody can recommend some front prerunner bumper that its not very expensive that would work aswell. Thanks.

im pretty sure you can put a sport bumper on a st/slt. i think the only problems would be the brackets and if it is a 99-01 bumper the grill will have a gap between the bumper and the grill.

I had already priced out having this done to my truck. Basically you need to replace every component to do the switch because the mounting brackets for the SLT are different. In addition, you will have to buy the bumper cover, reinforcement, cover support, and possibly new fog lights and harness. In addition to that you will have to buy a sport grill, this by far is the most expensive part of the whole conversion at $445. In all, the total in parts was about $1300 (from makeitmopar.com), plus additional money for paint and install. If you were serious about doing this, you might want to keep an eye on the junk yards for a wrecked truck, but more than likely you will still need paint and a professional install to get it all to fit right. Hope this helps!

LMC is like a "oem" replacement parts place they used to only do chevy's and fords but now they do dodges.

www.lmctruck.com is the website you can look through their catalog there.
