Default Your vote on a sub (10")

I want to put a sub in my truck, but obviously am limited by space. I found that Best Buy has a truck sub box that fits behind the seats and holds one 10" sub. Firstly, is there any box that you prefer/recomend above others. Secondly, what is the best sub for a small box such as these.

(I dont know anything about audio, so what else should I be looking to get besides the box, sub, and wireing?)

i had one of the boxes you are talking about in the back seat of my truck untill i got my custom box for underneath the back seat.
i had one 10' diamond sub in it. and for such a small box in a ext cab truck, that little speaker hit dam hard!!!
it was hooked up to a eclipse amp, bridged, i think it was 360 watt amp. sold the box and speaker a regret it, i put my custom box for 2 10' subs in the back seat, bought 2 brand new q- power subs, and sounded like poo poo. i really miss that little box and speaker.
just remember though, get a good quality amp. big watts dont matter as much as quality when it comes to stereo equipment.
so for a 10' sub for a little box i would definatly recommend a diamond audio, with a high quality amp (eclipse, diamond, alpine, ect...)
any questions let me know i do alot with car audio stuff.

Check out FI subs, the car audio forums are going nuts for them, both for sound quality and loudness. The website is:

www.ficaraudio.com

Sorry, I don't know how to make a link, but the address works. The owners are defectors from another company, I forget which one, although we've all heard of them. My next sub will be the Q series from them, and it'll fit in the box I already have.

And I have the JL audio stealthbox, fits in between my front seats under the center cushion, actually replaces it and gets covered with the original seat cover. Nobody ever knows its there, till I turn it on that is.........

You can put 2 10" bazookas behind the seats with room above to install the amps. The seats still go all the way back and still recline.

I run them with a dedicated bridged punch 200x2ta (old school) and they still hit hard after 5 years.

I had a 10" MTX 5500 Thunder sub with a JBl amp that was around 200 watts. They hit plenty hard. After i save up enough to put in a security system I will replace my sterio since it was stolen thanksgiving night in front of my parents house.

if you can afford it, get an older kicker solobaric, or the 10w6v2 from JL.

They are both for small boxes, but kick some serious ***.

its not the size of the ship, but the motion of the ocean? :P

The JBL and MTx or whatever it was sounds like a 1/2 way decent deal. I dont have too much $ to pour at audio, so Id like to keep it cheep as possible, but without sacrificing quality. (obviously not too cheep, but nothing show quality)

I bought one of the boxes that sits on the transmission hump with the cup holders on top (Linky). Got it on ebay for 100 bucks. Put an Mmats (Linky) P2.5 12" sub in it powered by a Sony XM-SD51X 1100 Watt Monoblock Amp and it rocks. It's a DVC sub that only needs about .75 Cubic Feet of space, and the box is .85 so even after the speaker displacement it is a nice fit. Mmats makes some extreme woofers(check out their Juggernaut or Dreadnaut woofers), some of the best I've ever come across. They used to make a quad voice coil 18" 1000 Watt RMS(per coil) woofer that was simply a monster in SPL comps. You won't find them at a Best Buy or Circuit City, they like to sell to specialty audio places. And if you buy them new from an authorized dealer Mmats gives a lifetime warrantee. a single 2.5 or 3.0 10" would be very loud.
