Crutchfield tells ya if you enter the truck info, I think. It will give a st of what will fit with no mods. I know mine is a 95 but between the inner door metal and the inner door panel, I had to put a half inch spacer so the speaker did not recess and interfere with the window travel. It works for me.....LOL. I have the Kappa 693.7i.

Good luck with your ride.

I have infinity refference 6x9 in my door rite now and they fit jst fine.....top mounting depth is 3.19" You could probably get 3 1/2 in there....but even if they hit something all you have to do is make a space(prefferably out of wood) and you should be set.

The infinity's and polks fit fine in my 97, the eclipse needed the spacer ring to clear window stuff. It bulged the door panel out just enough that after a couple of months I'd forgot all about it. Some speakers come with the spacer ring. Most audio shops have a few sitting around from left over installs.

I agree with dieseldemon, go to crutchfield and get some nice speakers that fit the truck. Don't chew up the truck just to fit in some 6x9's. You can get some good speakers that fit and use the factory grills.

I know it's your truck and you can do whatever you please, but I hate the look of aftermarket that does not fit. Just my opinion.

If you want them I understand and I am NOT an expert in car audio. But 6x9’s were hot back in my day (like I’m some old fart which I’m not) and are designed to work on an infinite baffle like a trunk. You will get better sound out of round speakers (enclosed with a foam system is best) with some tweeters mounted up high and a sub. Your truck looks good with the original factory grills and the tweeters are tiny and do not require cutting (in most cases).

Like I said it’s just my opinion, but in a truck you can get a better system without the 6x9’s and have it still look original.

I took a set of brand new Infinity 5x8 Kappa speakers in trade
recently and fit them into my Ram.

I went to WalMart and bought 2 kitchen cutting boards for $1.97
each and made spacers/adapters from them. They worked out
very well and were easy to cut with a jigsaw.

Worst case, make some spacers out of MDF or plastic cutting
boards. It's easy to do and opens up your choice of 6x9s.
