Default Exhaust Question

I'm thinking about doing a little exhaust work on my 2000 318 4x4. I hae switched in the K&N drop in replacement filter. I drive around 90 miles a day. I looking for performance, but I don't want it real loud. Any suggestions?

I forgot to put in there that I was considering just having the muffler weilded in and not replacing the exhaust for the cat back. Any advise.

I've got a 40 as well, but I have no cat so I couldn't tell you if it's quiet or not, but my truck sure rumbles.

Flowmaster 40 Series "Delta Flow" sounds awesome on the outside with minimal interior noise. You won't see a ton of performance just swapping one muffler for another, but they're relatively inexpensive and sound awesome.

I added a flowmaster cat-back system but didn't gain much noise or performance at all. I ended up switching to the flowmaster delta 40 from the thunder 50 and I still wasn't happy with it. It wasn't until I installed the ceramic coated headers and the magnaflow hi flow cat that I really noticed a difference. But after adding the headers and cat I wished I had kept the thunder series muffler because I have my exhaust coming out from the side of the truck and it is really loud. But boy does it move now!

have a look at the aero turbine mufflers... they work well on the diesels and IIRC we just started using them. they rock... straight thru design with a small amount of backpressure to keep torque up. I asked someone in the 2nd gen ram forum a while back what they thought of it and they liked it alot... do a search for it if your interested in reading more...
