Default 2500/3500 coils on 1500

I have a 2001 1500 4wd and i have a 3 inch bds lift. Im wanting to get it up there though and i heard that you could put coils from a 1 tonon the 1500 and get 3 inches left. Has anybody out there ever done this or know if it will work.

I did the same thing and a AAL in the rear rides alot stiffer but now it handles the plows like a champ.

Any good 4x4 shop...Top gun customs on ebay or 4wheelcustoms online. Skyjacker's part number for a 3 inch spring is D30. I believe BDS makes a 3 inch spring, but really, you might consider dumping the spacer and getting a 6 inch spring.

Now the fine print...adding another 3 inches to a 3 inch lift is gonna uncenter your axle both ways, moving it to the left and back. To do it RIGHT, you'll need longer control arms and you really should go to a DT or similar style adjustable track bar. I'd seriously go to a Cepek style long arm assembly because your ride will be VERY choppy. You'll also get some bump steer, so you should invest in a droppittman arm as well.

When you start lifting a Ram over 5 inches, you're really getting into the big leagues(no pun intended). It takes more then a couple of springs to make the truck function properly and most importantly SAFE.

I dont think ive ever had it in 4 lo always hi theres not many places with a big mudd pit or bog where i live. Do you know what all i would need to get it up higher without having to buy a $1600 kit and it still be right.

A bit of savy searching could probably get it done for less than a grand. You could probably use short arms off a 5 inch lift, but getting a good track bar and pittman arm will be your biggest expense.
