01 Offroad Suspension ?
Im new here if you didnt already guess.
Im wanting to replace the stock suspension, or atleast all the springs and shocks to a more updated version. Any ideas on where I can find an affordable either lift kit, or just springs shocks and maybe a new steering dampner. Ive found some springs that would work, but they would drop the truck, not by much, but im wanting to go taller if anything. Right now ive got 33" pro comp all terrains on it, but im wanting to go to a 37" x terrain, and id like to keep as much tire clearance as i can.
Thanks

You're looking at some serious mods to fit 37's on even an offroad, and you should expect to replace front end components on a regular basis (like wheel bearings and ball joints)and driveline parts (like axles and U-joints) if you off road the truck hard.
The reason is because your front axle isn't really designed to take the stress of running such a combination. I'm sure there are a buch of guys who would disagree, but I've seen enough carnage that I strongly believe differently.
Still, if you're dead set on your ways, I'd start with a good 5 inch suspension lift.( I like Tough country, Cepek,or Fabtech.) and plan on adding a 3 inch body lift. You could add more suspension lift, but you'll need to do a lot more work.
This should give you enough to clear 37's, but you should try to keep the wheel as centered over the hub as much as clearences allow.
Finally, since you didn't offer your experience level, I'd say it's a job only a profesional should attempt. Also, there's not a lot of really big trucks on this site, so I would recommend checking out Pavement Sucks.com, many people on there have done some serious suspension work.

37's is what id like to go with, but i wouldnt mind going with something smaller, like maybe a meatier 33 or a 35. I really dont want to put a body lift on it, i just hate the look of the gap between the body and the frame. I like the fabtech suspension, but with the stock lift the offroad comes with, how much would the fabtech 5" lift raise my truck?
I dont go offroadin a whole lot, just whenever i get the time to go out with friends, which isnt very often.
Im open to any suggestions or ideas on what to do with tire size and suspension upgrades.

Two of my buds run the fabtech, one on a '97EXT and the other is on a 2001 oofrad reg cab short box. I can tell you you'll have plenty of room for 35's and you'll get a good ride as a bonus. I would advise against using the stock track bar and fabtech adapter though, use a DT bar or maybe adapt a late model barfrom source automotive. I say this because this was the only real problems these guys experienced with the Fabtech lift.
I forgot to add that if you went to a 37 inch rim you'd really need to swap your 4:10gears for 4:56's. The 4:10s should be ok with a 35 inch or 305/70 tire which is about a 33/12.5

Shott- You're running 315's on an Off Road with minimal rubbing? You have my attention. My '01 Off-Road rubs pretty good at max turn and it's driving me nuts, to the point that I'm considering pulling the 315's and going back to 285's. Did a leveling kit make that much difference?
I should have added this info to my first post, dont get your hopes up completley.. yes the 2" levelers helped out ALOT .. BUT I also lucked out with my rims. I ended up using aftermarking pro comp rims and i dropped a half inch of the backspacing ,, so with my tires sticking out en extra 1/2" i gain that much room in the wheel well..
with the 2" level and the 4" backspacin (stock on OR rims is 4.5") combination really hlped me out.. i rub at full lock and full flex.. so if im driving down a railroad bed and try and cross it over the tracks.. (climbing over the rails) ill rub (this is how i figured out that i do rub.. and i only rub on the outer edge of the fender liners.. no metal contact)
hope this helps.. little insight to avoid or solve rubbing
it would be alot cheeper to go with a 2" body lift .. id rather do that before i went back to smaller tires.. im still considering a BL .. but after the wife and I buy a house.;
